Specialised Services
Nyquist Technology has developed its own proprietary systems and software allowing it to offer specialised services that are unique to the industry.
SPS Quality Assurance
SPS files are a critical component of nearly all Land 3D, 2D and TZ surveys. As such, it is vital that these files are 100% accurate and correctly formatted. Nyquist Technology has developed software that performs Quality Assurance and integrity checking on both 3D and 2D SPS files. Capabilities include:
- SPS File Viewer highlighting the data columns against the standards used in both the Header and Data records.
- Loading of the SPS data into a database for subsequent analysis and display.
- Automatic Integrity checking of 19 different attributes against the published SEG standards.
- Error correction: automatic and manual
- Survey Information and Analysis
- Exporting of error-free SPS files after and necessary edits.
- Map Plots: attribute colour coding, image backgrounds and cultural over-plotting.
- Inline and Xline Graph Plots: up to 5 attributes per plot
- Survey "Shooting" Animations - in the Shot, Receiver and Binned Domains.
- Production Plots - multiple production statistics can be plotted and evaluated.
For a more detailed description and to see multiple examples of the software capabilities see this PDF presentation.
SPS Binned Attributes
The Binned Attribute display software shows 3D SPS data after it has been loaded and error-corrected if necessary. Capabilities include:
- Computation of CMP locations for every Shot-Receiver pair in the survey
- Binning of the CMP's onto a regular grid of Inlines and Xlines.
- Computation of various Bin Attributes including Fold, Minimum Offset, Maximum Offset, Average Offset and Average Trace Interval.
- Loading of Bin Attributes such as Digital Elevation Models, Horizon Depths and Velocity Models from external files.
- Export of any Binned Attribute to an external file.
- Map displays of Binned Attributes. Displays can be made with Offset and/or Azimuth limitations applied to enable Attribute Dependent displays.
- Inline and Xline graph displays of any Binned Attribute.
- Rose plots along with associated Offset and Azimuth Distribution plots.
- Necklace plots in both Inline and Xline directions. Plots can be made of Line vs Offset, Line vs Azimuth, or Offset vs Azimuth Crossplots. Both Offset and Azimuth can be optionally binned for display.
- Spider plots at discrete locations throughout the survey. Plot types include CMP Scatter, Offset/Azimuth Wheels, Offset Distribution and Azimuth Distribution.
- Multiple overlapping surveys can be loaded into a special Multiple Survey module to enable all of the above attributes and displays to be generated on the combined survey.
See this PDF presentation for more detailed information and example displays.
Seismic Array Response
Although not as prevalent as they once were due to very high channel recording systems, seismic arrays still may be considered for use on certain surveys to address particular acquisition issues in the field. The Array Response software allows for the design and analysis of seismic arrays through the following capabilities:
- Array Design in various layouts including Inline, Rectangular, Parallelogram, Star or Circular patterns. Multiple layouts can be composited to make more complex array designs.
- Optimum Chebyshev inline arrays can also be designed.
- Array responses can be computed for the Receiver array, Source array or the Combined array.
- Display of the 1D array response along any given azimuth. Multiple azimuths can be displayed on the one plot.
- 1D responses can also be plotted against frequency for multiple velocities along any given azimuth.
- Display of the 2D (areal) array response. The response can be displayed either as a Radial or Rectangular plot.
- The average response over a specified K-range can be over-plotted on 3D response plots.
- Export of response values to external files.
- Random positioning errors can be included in array computations and displays to enable analysis of positioning errors on the array response.
- DeltaZ response plots can be computed and displayed. These show the effect of elevation changes across the array on the seismic wavelet.
- DeltaZ analysis cross-plots can be generated. See the Seismic Array Response presentation for a more details.
See this PDF presentation for more details and example displays.
Seismic Contract Evaluation
Contract evaluation is a key component of any tender process. It must be carried out in a rigorous and completely impartial manner to meet the strict requirements of both internal and external (Government entities, partner Companies, etc) stakeholders. With multiple tenders done over many years Nyquist Technology has developed an Integrated Contracting System that ties the Tender requirements to the spreadsheet based evaluation. Some key features include:
- Splitting of the evaluation into independent Technical/HSES and Commercial components.
- Integration of the tender responses to Technical and HSES questionnaires and information to the evaluation worksheets.
- Automatic evaluation of the Technical/HSES component to determine whether or not the tender should proceed to the Commercial evaluation stage.
- Commercial evaluation automatically performed using the tender cost matrices completed by the tenderer over different possible work scenarios.
- Optional weighting of the Technical/HSES and Commercial components to determine the overall winner of the tender. (This is generally not permitted but the capability exists if is required.)
- Tenderer names are stored in one location enabling 'blind' evaluations to be easily done by third parties if necessary.
